Hey, welcome to Chronically Successful, my name is Sam and I’m a 28 year old chronically ill mommy who wants nothing more than to be “successful” at life. Therefore, by sharing my stories and experiences I hope you can find your success and happiness too.
I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease when I was 21. I also have since developed; IBD-associated Arthritis, Gastritis, Bile Acid Malabsorption (BAM), Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD) and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). I was also diagnosed with Endometriosis when I was 22. It is also no secret that over the last 10 years or so, I have really struggled with my mental health.
However, despite my extensive chronic and mental illness resume, I have tried to not let anything stop me reaching my goals and aspirations. The same week I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease, I was accepted onto my Masters in Occupational/Business Psychology. I’m not going to lie I debated turning down the offer and moving home with my parents instead. However, my Mom (who you will hear about a lot I’m sure) also has Crohn’s Disease and she has never let it stop her doing anything. She has always worked hard and she is the most incredible role model. So, with her amazing support, I accepted. Forwards a few years and I graduated with my MSc and went on to start my next qualification which I am currently doing to become a Chartered Occupational Psychologist.
I was also told that on top of my illnesses and after several operations, medications and complications, that i’d never have a baby. However, in December 2018 we found out we were having our little miracle… And in August 2019 our gorgeous, content, perfect baby boy Arthur was born.
Life isn’t a bed of roses. It is HARD. Chronic illness can be debilitating. Mental illness can be crushing. However, I am determined to live life to the full and become the role model for my son like my Mom is to me. I hope you can join me on this roller-coaster of health, lifestyle, and motherhood. I will be aiming to post weekly blogs about all things; work, lifestyle, chronic illness, motherhood and mental health. I also blog daily on social media channels Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
I really hope you enjoy my page and if you have any questions please give me a shout on social media or send me an email at email@example.com
